Pets and Your Wedding
With almost half of all adults in the UK owning a pet, it
is no surprise that people want them to feature more and more in their special
day. Pets are like children, and you wouldn’t want your darling offspring to
miss your wedding, so why would you exclude your furry friends? There are so
many great ways to incorporate your adorable pets in your wedding, even if they
can’t make it to the day itself.

Use your pet to propose! A simple sign around
their neck, or a ring hanging from their collar…who could possibly say no?
©
Let them star on your ‘save the dates’ or
invitations. A family photo or a simple paw mark is a lovely way to personalise
your wedding stationary.

If you are having engagement photos, take your
four-legged friend(s) along – this is a sure way to create the most adorable
photos that you will treasure for life.
© Find out if your venue allows pets on site. They
will no doubt have ‘rules’ regarding pet care, however, it is always worth
checking. Your pet could have the important job of Ring Bearer or a Flower Girl
escort.

If you have a horse, why not ride to your
ceremony?

Your wedding photos wouldn’t be complete without
your dog/cat/tortoise!

Commission a custom pet-inspired cake topper. Or
you could go one step further and feature your pet on the cake design itself.
If you would like to include your pet at your Berkeley Castle
wedding, please contact Pippa or Jenny to discuss logistics!

Trends to look out for in 2019
I can hardly believe that January is almost behind us. So it's about time we looked ahead to what
the big ‘trends’ are going to be in 2019.
- Coral will be one of the favourite colours this
year, perfect for a sunny, bright summer wedding. Expect to see this
pinky-orange hue make an appearance in bridal wear, flowers and even makeup.
-
Taking inspiration from Meghan Merkle, wedding
dresses will be returning to a more simple design with a classic, tailored
look. Make sure the dress is fitted perfectly to your
shape, creating a gorgeous silhouette.
-
Wedding veils are going to get longer and more fabulous
in 2019, thanks to Priyanka Chopra’s incredible 75-foot veil, which she wore
during her wedding to Nick Jonas in 2018.
-
Gone are the days of the Groom wearing trainers
and loose fitting shirts. 2019 will be the year of the three-piece suit. A
tailored and fitted design looks super smart during the day, and when the party
really starts, he can shrug off his jacket and push his sleeves up to create a
more relaxed look.
-
Another trend inspired by Prince Harry and
Meghan Merkle’s wedding is the use of a Gospel Choir. Not only do they sound
fabulous, but they definitely have the wow factor during a Church ceremony.
-
Greenery has been a huge feature in weddings for
the last few years, but we’re going up a notch in 2019 as we will see an increase
in the use of trees – bringing the outside in. Either as table centre pieces or
simply as additional decoration, trees & foliage will be very popular.
-
Cakes are
going BIG! Elaborate royal icing designs will be back on trend with opulent
metallic touches and fabulous sugar flowers becoming more and more popular.
-
Hand illustrated invitations and stationary will
be a big trend in 2019. It’s a great way to create something personal and can unify
the décor throughout the day.
-
Two words: Glitter Bar! This fabulous trend is
fun, sparkly, and it gets guests mixing.

A Merry Christmas to you all!
Another year has passed and we find ourselves in December
once more. Always a magical time of year, and this is especially true at the
Castle as our wonderful couples say “I do”. The tree lights are twinkling and
the fires are roaring... there really is no better place to celebrate such a
special day.
It is a wonderful time to reflect on the year and remember
fondly the weddings that have taken place throughout the seasons. We had the
heavy snow at the beginning of the year which blanketed the Castle and grounds.
Our team would not be defeated and were out shovelling pathways so that the
intrepid guests could join in the celebrations.
The spring brought blue skies and our gardens blossomed in
the warmer air. The lily pads reawakened as their fuchsia buds nudged out of
the pond. Our couples, once again, ventured outside as they entertained their
guests whilst enjoying the beautiful views over the Meadow.
The summer came early with unusually hot temperatures from
May through to August. Ice lollies, garden games and refreshing cocktails were
the must-haves. It felt more like the South Mediterranean than Gloucestershire
with searing heat and bright turquoise skies.
As schools went back, and the nights drew in, autumn was a
mixed season alternating between beautifully bright, and wet & windy.
Thankfully, the Castle is extremely adaptable and can handle any weather
condition! The fires were finally lit in November which marks the start of our
final weeks, as we make our way towards the Christmas break.
It has been a truly wonderful year at the Castle, as we have
witnessed 52 very special couples promise a lifetime of love and commitment to
each other. We really couldn’t wish for a better job, or a more beautiful place
to work #bestjobintheworld

Our favourite photos from 2018 (so far)
It is hard to portray the wonderful emotions we witness during our weddings at Berkeley Castle. The happiness, love and commitment is a wonder to behold. We love trying to capture some of the moments and we are incredibly proud of our Instagram feed. It reminds us that we probably have the best job in the world!
